Stephen Baxter transforms the everyday at QUT

Artist Stephen Baxter is currently part of the QUT Art Museum’s Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye exhibition (which runs to 30 January 2005) - bringing together artists in the QUT Art Collection whose art practice explores transforming everyday objects and materials into works of art.

Also on show with Baxter are Eugene Carchesio, Rosalie Gascoigne, Robert Klippel, Mervyn Muhling, Bruce Reynolds, Madonna Staunton and students Rodolphe Blois, Luke Jaaniste, Alice Lang, Kathryn McSherry and Cerae Mitchell.

You can see the mixture of collage, bricolage, painting, sculpture, works on paper and assemblage at the QUT Art Museum (2 George Street, Brisbane - next to the City Botanic Gardens. Ph: 3864 5370).

New Neo exhibition for David Hinchliffe

David Hinchliffe has a new exhibition of paintings opening at Neo Gallery (Shop 1, 758 Ann Street (Near GPO), Fortitude Valley Qld. Ph: (07) 3852 4944. Wednesday to Saturday. 11am - 5.30pm) on Friday 3 December at 6pm. The show runs to 18 December 2004.

Bill Payne’s first and last show at Grafton Regional Gallery

Robert Moore has collected and curated a show of sculptures and paintings for
the Grafton Regional Gallery by local artist Bill Payne. Bill was an artist
Robert met when he first moved to Grafton in 2002. Bill lived and worked as
a mechanic in Grafton his whole life until he retired when he took up
painting because he thought he would be good at it. Bill died in 2004.

Although Bill Payne never showed his work, Robert Moore has collected works from the estate and from around Grafton and put together an exhibition of his work at Grafton Regional Gallery from 8 December 2004 to January 2005.

The works will only be available from Bill Payne’s website.
