Dave Groom’s two SE Qld exhibits

Dave Groom currently has work on display at the Gold Coast City Art Gallery in the Exquisite Exhibition which features small landscapes. The show featureswork from the Gallery’s collection as well as work by Hobie Porter and Amanda Penrose Hart. The exhibition runs until 5 July.

Dave's next solo show opens at Marks and Gardner Gallery (69 Main Western Rd,Mt Tamborine, Qld. Ph: 07 55454992) on Mt Tamborine on 5 June. The showwill feature small to large landscapes which can be viewed prior to the
opening on Dave’s arthives site.

Jay Dee Dearness part of Original 6

 
Jay Dee Dearness is part of the upcoming group exhibition - Original 6 - who are a Brisbane-based group of artists (also including Jan Berryman, Diane Deshong, Maureen Newmann, Carol Owens and Lien Tran Smith). Their debut exhibition opens on Friday 12 June (6pm) at Graydon Gallery (29 Merthyr Road, New Farm, Qld) and runs 10 to 21 June

Robyn Bauer mini-retrospective

 
Robyn Bauer will be showing Exotica - a mini retrospective of her paintings and sculptures at Robyn Bauer Studio Gallery (54 Latrobe Tce, Paddington, Qld. Ph: 3369 6573) during June. The show will feature family portraits, 2005’s Garden of Eden series, the current Homecoming ceramic sculpture and more. The gallery will then become a rental artspace - Gallery 54.

Carl Warner’s Oblivious/Oblivion

 
Carl Warner has two exhibitions opening this month with the first - Oblivious - at Kristian Pithie Gallery (27 Gipps Street, Richmond, Vic. Ph: 03 9428 2020) which runs 9 June to 4 July and the second - Oblivion - at Jan Manton Art (59 Melbourne St, South Brisbane, Qld. Ph:  07 38440043) which runs 24 June to 18 July.

The works have been made during storms, heavy rainfall, nighttime and heavy winds, frost and fog. Carl hasn’t been working with still nature (life) but movement.

Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox Launch

 
Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox is one of the 30 finalists in LAUNCH: Clayton Utz Traveling Scholarship Award which runs 2-12 June at Metro Arts (Edward St, Brisbane, Qld), and you will also be able to see Kathryn’s work included in the group exhibition - One Community - at Joshua Levi Galleries (4 Ipswich Rd, Woollongabba, Qld) which is on 4-14 June.

Nick Ashby and Elizabeth Shaw Miniature Museum

 
Nick Ashby and Elizabeth Shaw's exhibition - The Miniature Museum - opens on 11 June at Blindside Artist Run Space (37 Swanston St, Nicholas Building, level 7, room 14, Melbourne, Vic. Ph: 03 9650 0093) and runs to 27 June. Both artists have added an essay on the show written by Michael Hawker.

Amos Duggan reveals Future Beings Now!

 
Amos Duggan has a new exhibition - Future Beings Now! - which opens at Jugglers Artspace (103 Brunswick St, Brisbane, Qld) on Friday 5 June (6-9pm) and continues to 26 June.

With inspirations coming from the human race, these paintings address the everyday feelings and emotions our race encounters in our repetitiously scheduled and structured day to day lives.

Nicola Moss interpreting the natural environment

Lyndal Hargrave nominations and invitations

 
Lyndal Hargrave has paintings and sculpture selected for the Prometheus Award and the Moreton Bay Region Art Awards, and has an invitation to exhibit in an exhibition of international art curated by Paola Trevisan at Estense Castle (Ferrara, Italy) from 24 October to 1 November 2009

Short Takes - June 2009

Fiona Kennedy Altoft’s solo exhibition - Jocular - opens at 19 Karen Artspace (19 Karen Ave, Mermaid Beach, Qld) on Satuday June 6 (6pm) and runs to 4 July.

Kym Barrett and her mixed media work - Bridges Connect - won first prize in the Gympie Heritage Art Competition, and her mixed media painting - Pointing Homeward - gained a Highly Commended at the Immanuel Lutheran College Art Festival, Maroochydore.

Amanda O'Sullivan will be one of the judges at this year’s National Prison Fellowship Art Exhibition - Light in the Darkness - which opens at the Brisbane City Hall on 9 July (7pm) and runs to 13 July. Prior to that you can see the show at Australian Catholic University (1100 Nudgee Rd, Banyo, Qld) which opens on 22 June (7.30pm) and runs to 26 June.

Good As Gold is a new exhibition of ceramics by Michael Ciavarella. The show opens at Fusions Art Gallery (Cnr Brunswick and Malt Street, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, Qld. Ph: 3358 5122) on Friday 26 June (6-9pm).

Jason Haufe is currently showing at Stephen McLaughlan Gallery (Level 8, Room 16, Nicholas Building, 37 Swanston Street, Melbourne, Vic) until 13 June.

Sam Creyton’s new exhibition - Forms - opens at Nyst Gallery (16 Nerang St, Southport, Qld) on Friday 12 June (6pm) with the gallery open 13-14 June (10am-5pm).
