Robert Brownhall at Martin Browne Fine Art

Robert Brownhall captures the essence of the Emerald City in his debut Sydney exhibition - Sydney Paintings - at Martin Browne Fine Art (57 - 59 Macleay Street, Potts Point, Sydney. Ph: 02 9331 7997) which runs from 24 June to 18 July. Icons like the Harbour, Opera House and Bridge are there, but also everyday scenes with Brownhall's hallmarks of style - muted neon reflecting on water, the fresh illumination of dawn or an approaching rain storm softening urban edges.

A Trip to Wonderland

Sasi Victoire, Laurel McKenzie and Margaret Genever’s group exhibition - Wonderland - opens at Vivo Artroom (Williams Esplanade, Palm Cove, Qld) on 18 June and runs to 17 August. In Victoire's woodcuts and mixed media works, a playful revamp of Alice in Wonderland imagery creates a new narrative of life in tropical Wonderland. McKenzie’s pigment-based prints place red-carpet celebrities in unfamiliar territory while Genever’s archival pigment prints, set in the circus realm, draw attention to ambiguities in the human animal/non-human animal relationship.

Kym Barrett wins prize at Immanuel Arts Festival

Kym Barrett’s The Memory of Trees I was awarded Best Painting at Immanuel Arts Festival in Maroochydore recently. The Memory of Trees I is part of an evolving series of mixed media work representing fragments of trees as metaphors for the human condition, the timelessness and honesty of Nature and the interconnectedness of all things.

Jody Cunningham part of Erotica group show

Jody Cunningham

is participating in the group exhibition - Erotica - being held at PS Gallery (150 Enoggera Terrace, Paddington, Brisbane, Qld) until 26 June. The exhibition explores all the elements of the erotic impulse.

Rachael Lee exposed at B.A.D

Rachael will be at the gallery from 2pm both Saturdays to 'expose' her methods of working. It is a rare opportunity to share with visitors the artist's private visual diaries.

This exhibition aims to expose the local support network available to artists via The Brisbane Artist Development Co-operative who meet once a month at New Farm and Artworkers Alliance who have recently moved to Paddington.

Art is The Flower

Art Is The Flower - an exhibition of paintings, drawings and wall hangings by Jan Lawnikanis will be on show from Friday 23 July to 30 July at the Royal QLD Art Society Gallery (25 Broadbeach Blvd (cnr Armrick Ave), Broadbeach, Qld). Ph: 07 55920440). Sunlight dancing on transparent petals, the nuances of colour in shadows and reflective lights; these are subjects that inspire her to record nature in some of its finest moments.
