Stella Danalis's Schumann the Shoeman

Stella Danalis, along with husband John Danalis, had their first collaborative children’s picture book - Schumann the Shoeman - published by UQP last October.

Schumann the Shoeman has since been exhibited at the White Ravens 2010 Festival in Munich; The Bologna Book Fair in Italy; been short-listed for the CBCA Australian Picture Book of the Year and is soon to be released in Korea.

Elizabeth Shaw - Evidence

Elizabeth Shaw's exhibition - Evidence - will be at Metro Arts Gallery (Level 2, 109 Edward St, Brisbane, Qld) for one week only. The show will run from the 6-11 September and opens on Wednesday 8 September (6pm-8pm).

Nick Cominos at Damien Minton Gallery

Nick Cominos's latest exhibition - Places of Resolution - is on at Damien Minton Gallery (61-63 Great Buckingham St, Redfern, NSW) until Saturday 4 Sept.

Nick Ashby - Oldspace Paintings

An exhibition of Nick Ashby's most recent work will be at Metro Arts Gallery (Level 2, 109 Edward St, Brisbane, Qld) for one week only. The show - Oldspace Paintings - runs The show runs 6-11 September and opens on Wednesday 8 September (6pm-8pm).

John Drake - Bribie Island Artist of the Month

The Bribie Island Community Arts Centre (191 Sunderland Drive, Banksia Beach, Qld. Ph: 07 3408 9288) have chosen John Drake to be their September - Artist of the Month - for an exhibition of his local subject paintings in Arylic on stretched canvas. The exhibit runs until 30 September.

Megan Jones - Berlin residency

Megan Jones is off to Germany later in the month for an extended period of art viewing and artmaking where she will also be taking up a residency at Dada Post in Berlin and visiting the famous Art Forum.

New Anita West solo show

Anita West's third major solo show - Life, Love, Landscape - opens at Trevor Victor Harvey Gallery in Sydney on Friday 17 September and continues to 3 Oct. Her large canvases explore Australian optimism and identity through familiar narratives.

Anita West is exhibiting 6 works in a group show - Gold Coast Perspectives at Gallery One (Shop 16.02, The Brickworks, 107 Ferry Road, Southport, Qld) which is on until 25 September.

Robyn Bauer part of 30 Days

Robyn Bauer will be exhibiting in the group exhibition - 30 Days Hath September - at Robyn Bauer Studio Gallery (54 Latrobe Tce, Paddington, Qld. Ph: 07 35116380) from 31 August until 3 October with the official opening on Friday 3 September( 6pm). All works are 30x30cm.

Dave Groom upfront

Dave Groom is now featured on the front cover of the new Studios of the Scenic Rim Guide which promotes arts and culture in the Scenic Rim. Dave's family history in the region goes back to his grandfather Arthur Groom, who established Binna Burra Mountain lodge in the 1930's.

You can see Dave Groom's latest exhibition - Birds of the Forest - at Marks and Gardner Gallery (69 Main Western Rd, North Tamborine, Qld) until 3 Oct.

Kym Barrett win at Festival

Kym Barrett has been invited to be - Artist in Focus - at the 30th annual Immanuel Arts Festival in Maroochydore (May 2011). Kym will have her own solo exhibition within the larger Festival, and be able to showcase her work to the Sunshine Coast. Kym won Best Painting at the 2010 Festival which included almost 1000 paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, photography and creative arts.

Papermaking with Lesa Hepburn

Lesa Hepburn will be running hand papermaking workshops for multiple sheetforming, printmaking & artist books using waste cotton rag pulp during October (9, 16, 23 and 30) from 10am to 1pm at Studio Red (Redcliffe State High School, Cnr Klingner Rd & Oxley Ave, Redcliffe, Qld). $280 for 4 sessions or $90 for 1 session.
