Stephen Baxter profile and profiler on TV

 Stephen Baxter's contribution to the ABC TV series, Artist by Artist - Jess by Stephen, of Jessica Westhead (Artistic Director of Soapbox Theater Company) will be shown on ABC 21 on Tuesday 8 November 7.55pm).

The official launch of all the films is at Rabbit and Cocoon Multi Arts Hub (Studio 9, 23 Hillcrest Parade, Miami, Gold Coast, Qld) on Friday November 11 where you can also see Stephen by Jess.

Tony Nugent in Countryscapes final

Tony Nugent is a finalist in Countryscapes 2011, the Essential Energy Art Prize for Landscape. The finalist exhibition will be at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery from 25 November 2011 to 15 January 2012.

2011 Blake Director's Cut Exhibition

Michael Donnelly's oil painting - But I say this to you... (2011) - has been selected for the Online 2011 Blake Director's Cut Exhibition and may be viewed until 31 Jan 2012 at the Blake Society website. The painting is a meditation on Matthew chapters 4 – 10, part of the 2011 common lectionary.

Di West speaks Frankly

 Di West is part of group exhibition - Frankly Speaking - again! - which opens on Friday 4 November (6-8pm) at 11 Stratton Street, Newstead Qld. There are 6 sculptors including Frank Lambert and over 50 sculptures and the show runs to 11 November.

Di is also a finalist in The Gold Coast Art Prize with her work - Swimstar.

Sue Beyer - Exchange

Sue Beyer is participating in Exchange – a unique group exhibition of small scale works. Combining an 'art swap' amongst the participating artists with works available for sale, there will be 110 art works from 55 contemporary artists. The exhibition runs at

Jimmy Rix in two exhibitions

Jimmy Rix is exhibiting in two exhibitions this month. First, In Situ - which is part of the Festival of Mosman - appears in shop fronts on Military Parade (Mosman, Sydney) until 11 November. and then there's Sculpture in the Vineyard (Wollombi, Hunter Valley, NSW) which runs until 22 January 2012.

Megan Jones Gold Coast Art Prize finalist

Megan Jones recently participated in a charity exhibition for FRANS, an organisation for people with disabilities.

Megan has also been selected as a finalist in the Stan and Maureen Duke Gold Coast Art Prize, to be exhibited in the Gold Coast Art Gallery in December. The work selected draws on ambiguous memories from childhood, but also refers to the human condition in general.

Jane Creenaune - Drawn from Memory

Jane Creenaune's exhibition - Drawn from Memory - opens on 11 November at Red Hill Gallery (61 Musgrave Road, Red Hill, Brisbane) and continues until 30 November 2011.

The Exhibition is a new collection of paintings, works on paper & bronze sculpture featuring the Semaphore series.

Susan Buret part of Eclectica 2011

Susan Buret is part of the group exhibition - Eclectica 2011: the Winifred West Foundation Art Show which runs from 4 to 6 November at Frensham School (Waverley Street, Mittagong, NSW) and will be opened on Friday 4 November (6-8pm) by Julian Beaumont, Curator of the Macquarie Bank Collection.

Susan's work will also be on show at Celeste Coucke's Cloud Farm Studios (Tourist Road, Mt Murray) as part of the Southern Highlands Arts Trail on 12,13,19 & 20 November (10am-4pm).

Short Takes - November 2011

John Weeronga Bartoo has been selected as one of the 30 finalists in this year's Sovereign Asian Art Prize. His painting will go on exhibition in Shanghai, Seoul & Singapore before going to Hong Kong for the final judging on 17 February 2012.  This is the second time that he has reached the final of this prestigious Asia Pacific Art Competition.

Rachael Lee has updated her website with new works on paper incorporating printmaking techniques which explore growth and change in the natural environment.

Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox’s entry - Compassion - for the Blake Prize has been selected for the Directors’ Cut Exhibition, which is online until 31 January 2012.
Kathryn has also created an online gallery of small works under $1000.

Having completed the Royal Overseas League travelling Scholarship in September, Nick Olsen is pleased to exhibit work completed during his residency in Scotland and London.
