Symone Male is excited to announce her self portrait - Unprepared - which has been accepted as a finalist in this year's Portia Geach Memorial Award. Symone's piece explores the depths of grief, introspection and solitude associated with the recent death of her brother.
Her work will be displayed at the National Trust (S.H.Ervin Gallery, Observatory Hill, Sydney) until 5 November.

Sally Robinson has been announced as winner of Australia’s most famed portrait prize for women - the Portia Geach Memorial Award - for her portrait, The Artist’s Mother.
ReplyDeleteThe Artist’s Mother was selected by the judges from 295 entries. Ms Robinson was presented her $18,000 prize by The Trust Company at a ceremony held at the S.H. Ervin Gallery, The Rocks. The exhibition including all 55 finalists is open for viewing by the public until 4 November at the S.H. Ervin Gallery.
Also drawing the judges’ attention was the self portrait, Stormfront, by Sophie Cape which received a highly commended.
