David Henderson part of Art Spectacular

David Henderson has been invited to exhibit in the 2012 Brisbane Rotary Art Spectacular exhibition. The exhibition opens at the Riverside Centre, 123 Eagle Street, Brisbane on 19 April and continues until 28 April. Proceeds will benefit the Queensland Cerebral Palsy League.

Inkfest - a festival of printmaking

Laurel McKenzie, Margaret Genever and Sasi Victoire are among the Inkmasters Cairns Inc. members who are organising and showing in a major festival of printmaking, Inkfest - an innovative addition to Cairns Festival - between April and September 2012.

Some of Australia's top artists will be in Cairns as Artists in Residence prior to Inkfest and will deliver workshops.

Jane Creenaune studio sale

Jane Creenaune is having a studio sale for month of April with stockroom works on paper and canvas at Kinross House (Gallery 3, 603 Toorak Road, Toorak, Vic. Tram 8, Stop 39).

Megan Jones off to Greenland

Megan Jones has been selected as a finalist in the Calleen Art Award, which will be exhibited at Cowra Regional gallery in April/May, and at the end of April, she will be leaving for an artist residency for the month of May on the island of Upernavik, Greenland.

Nadia Kliendanze - Handprints

Nadia Kliendanze has a new exhibition - Handprints - at Inverell Art Gallery (Evans St, Inverell, NSW) which pushes the boundaries of printmaking. The show opens on Friday 20 April (6.30pm) and runs to 18 May.

Helen Malone at Australian War Memorial

Helen Malone's artist book - The Battle Within - is on display at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra for six months.  It is situated in a commemorative/reflective space on the way out of the Memorial.
 
The book deals with the effects of war on returned servicemen and the structure of the book reflects an inward post-traumatic state.

Mel Brigg - Beyond the Realms

Mel Brigg's new show - Beyond the Realms - combines old and new works at Red Hill Gallery (63 Musgrave Road, Red Hill, Qld. Ph: 07 3368 1442). The exhibitions opens on 15 April (2-4pm). and continues to 29 April.

Jennifer Long's Transformation

Jennifer Long has recently updated her website with a new painting - Transformation - which was exhibited in the Cossag exhibition (Cycle of Life: A Window Opens) at St. Stephen's Cathedral in March.

Aria Stone and Michael Donnelly - Rick Amor Drawing finalists

Aria Stone has been chosen as a finalist for two of her artworks in the Rick Amor Drawing Prize. Michael Donnelly is also a finalist, with his drawing which was executed during a residency at Cataract Gorge in 2010 (courtesy of Launceston City Council). The Drawing Prize exhibition is held at the Art Gallery of Ballarat (40 Lydiard Street, North Ballarat, Vic. Ph: Ph 03 5320 5858) which opens on Friday 27 April and continues to 24 June.

New Dave Groom work

Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox - Quiver

Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox's latest exhibition - Quiver  - will be at Graydon Gallery (29 Merthyr Rd, New Farm, Brisbane, Qld. Ph: 07 32542325) from 17 - 29 April with the opening on Wednesday 18 April (6-8pm). Quiver is an exhibition of new paintings inspired by concepts of Mother Nature. There will also be an Afternoon Tea, drinks and artist's talk on Saturday 21 April (3—5pm).
